Ben Affleck in his New ‘Batman V Superman’ Photo

Forget about his wonderful toys, Joker. You oughta be asking Batman where he gets his wonderful clothes, because the dude looks absolutely styling in this brand new photo from “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.”

Photographer Clay Enos, who has worked with “Batman v Superman” director Zack Snyder on a number of projects including “Watchmen,” posted the new portrait of Ben Affleck, alias Batfleck, on his Instagram page today. It’s a detailed look at what we can expect from the Dark Knight’s new look — new wardrobe included.

Bat-suit not warm enough for you? Here, put this duster on. Malcolm Reynolds won’t miss it. Got too much sand in your eye? These goggles will help; after all, even a Batman can cry. Add a rustic scarf for good measure, and you have the sexiest and most stylish Batman that’s ever Batmanned.

Seriously, none of the other Batmen can even argue. Even Christian Bale approves.

Remain as cautious about “Batman v Superman” as you want, but there’s never been any doubt that the Batfleck would look good. We just didn’t know he would look so freaking fly.

“Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” hits theaters on March 25, 2016. Check out the trailer below:

Facebook, eBay, And Google along with Samsung Against Apple

Google, Facebook, and eBay are now on Samsung's side supporting Samsung’s objection to the court decision ordering it to fork over profits from smartphones found upon certain Apple patents.

It’s the latest development in a long-running war that initiated in 2012, when a jury found Samsung guilty of infringing on a handful of Apple’s design for the iPhone. The jury originally awarded Apple $929 million fine, which was later reduced to $382 million.

Samsung is now seeking a review of that decision. And a coalition of companies that have a stake in protecting their own smartphones, software, and related IP — Google, Facebook, eBay, Dell, Hewlett-Packard, Limelight Networks, NewEgg, and the SAS Institute — have submitted a “friends of the court” brief in support of Samsung’s petition.

Submitted on July 1 to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, the filing argues that the decision to award a portion of Samsung’s smartphone profits to Apple “will lead to absurd results and have a devastating impact on companies, including [the companies in the filing], who spend billions of dollars annually on research and development for complex technologies and their components.”

Samsung has argued that since the design patents in question apply to select features of the iPhone, it should not have to pay damages based on the value of the entire device. Google and the supporting companies agree, saying that “the panel’s decision could allow the owner of the design patent to receive all profits generated by the product or platform, even if the infringing element was largely insignificant to the user and it was the thousands of other features, implemented across the remainder of the software, that drove the demand generating those profits.”

Separately, on Monday, Apple filed an objection to Samsung’s request for a rehearing, restating its argument that the patents in question are crucial to the look and feel of the iPhone.
“Rather than create its own innovative look, Samsung appropriated Apple’s,” Apple said. “Almost overnight, Samsung’s smartphone products transformed from bulky, walkie-talkie-like boxes into sleek, streamlined, narrow rectangles that mimicked the iPhone’s appearance.”

It's argued that a feature, which could be a result of a few lines of code, may appear during use of a particular product, allowing the owner of said patent to receive profit generated by said product, even if the infringing element was insignificant to the user experience. The tech companies backing Samsung have urged the courts to review their decision in a rehearing.

Apple declined comment on the filing. Samsung did not immediately return a request for comment.

[What happens] when you 'pause' Project Fi service?

Project Fi does a few innovative things that set it apart subtly from other carrier offerings, and one of the lesser-advertised features is the ability to "pause" service for a while. Pausing  lets you simply disable your phone for as long as you want and instantly resume service with the press of a button.

This isn't something you'll be doing all the time on Project Fi, but it does turn out to be a new feature. Now lets see how it works.

What happens, and why you'd want to pause service

So what exactly happens to your phone when you pause Project Fi service? It puts the stopping on all aspects of your phone — no calls, texts or data will work unless you resume service again. You'll still be able to make emergency calls, but no notification of texts or calls that were missed during this interval would be shown.

It immediately sounds like a great way to save money. It sounds like a great idea to regularly pause service particularly if your Project Fi line is a secondary device, but also keep in mind that you lose the ability to use your Project Fi number everywhere when paused ie.. you can't make and receive calls via Hangouts on your computer or text on your other phones.

As soon as you pause service you'll immediately see a refund posted on your dashboard for the entire remainder of the billing period. If you happen to resume service within the same billing period, the amount of time you were paused is calculated and the proper refund amount is posted. For example we paused our service for just over 24 hours, and were issued a $0.75 refund that'll be applied to our next bill.

The ability to pause service is pretty great if you will have literally no need for your phone over a set period of time. For example if you're going on a long camping trip in an area where you won't have cellular service anyway, you could simply pause service just before you leave, and come home after a long weekend to a $3 or so refund. It's also a great choice if Fi is a secondary line that you only want to use sometimes but don't rely on the phone number for regular use.

Just keep in mind that if you're using Project Fi like a Google Voice replacement, you'll need to also be aware of the full set of ramifications as explained here.
