Game of Thrones Season 6 Spoilers: What’s Next for Dany?

When we last saw Daenerys (Emilia Clarke) on Game of Thrones Season 5 finale, she found herself right back where she started: Alone and surrounded by Dothraki. With Meereen now in her past and Westeros still a distant dream, what in seven hells can we expect from Dany next season?

Thankfully, Emilia dropped a few clues about Dany’s future in a recent interview with the Los Angeles Times.

For one thing, Emilia says Dany has definitely learned from the mistakes she made as Queen of Meereen, so look for that knowledge to keep her out of trouble now that she’s with the Dothraki again.
“I think that she’s definitely on the upwards trajectory of truly learning from the mistakes that she’s made as a ruler,” Emilia says, adding, “It’s a matter of her trusting herself and being confident in the decisions that she’s about to make. And being confident enough to stand next to those decisions and take full responsibility for them.”

It sounds like the biggest challenge for Dany next season, or at least for Emilia, is having to learn to speak Dothraki once again after having a couple seasons off. “It’s weird,” she says of relearning the harsh language. “I don’t know whether it’s a psychological thing because I’m a weird actor, but I found it so much easier doing Valyrian than I did learning Dothraki, which is weird because Daenerys’ mother tongue is Valyrian. So I don’t know if that’s my psycho head or not. But yeah Dothraki is not my forte. Weirdest sentence ever.”

So if Dany’s speaking Dothraki next season, it sounds like she’ll be hanging out with her new friends for a little while at least. Will she lead a Dothraki army back to Meereen and straighten her city out? Will she say screw Meereen and take them straight to Westeros? Or will she simply become their prisoner? With all she’s learned, we seriously doubt it’s the latter, so we fully expect big things from Dany next season. Time to bust out those dusty Targaryen banners, smallfolk!
